All through the Gospels we see Jesus putting the reality of the Kingdom on display through the working of miracles. The sick were healed, the lame walked, the blind saw, the deaf heard, the dead were raised, and demons were cast out. He walked on water, multiplied food, and turned water into wine. Jesus lived a miracle lifestyle. He made the divinely supernatural an everyday occurrence. And by doing so, He gave everyone the opportunity to realize that the Kingdom of God was within reach, all they had to do was believe.
As amazing as all the miracles that Jesus did were, what is even more amazing is that He promised that anyone who believed would be able to do the same works that He did (John 14:12). That means that all those miracles, all those healings, all those manifestations of the reality of the Kingdom that Jesus did, we can do too. We not only can do them. We are supposed to. In Matthew 10:8 Jesus told the disciples (and that includes we modern day disciples since His word is eternal!) to go and preach the Gospel. He then went on to let them know what that looked like: healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead, and casting out demons. In other words, doing the works that He did – living a miracle lifestyle so that all could see the reality of the Kingdom. WOW!
